The Paris Agreement was adopted in 2015 to solve the problem of climate change, a global-scale issue. As long-term shared global targets, agreement was reached on pursuing measures to keep global average temperature rise well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and to make efforts to limit global average temperature rise to 1.5° C (the 2°C target). Agreement was also reached on pursuing measures to achieve equilibrium between greenhouse gas emissions from anthropogenic sources and the removal of greenhouse gases by sinks in the second half of the century. Measures are underway around the world to achieve these targets, and more than 120 countries and regions have set a target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. As a leading materials manufacturer, Aichi Steel is taking active measures not only to address quality and safety, but also to pursue and deepen energy savings, use renewable energy, develop carbon removal technologies, and take other action to achieve carbon neutrality and contribute to a sustainable global environment.
