Mechanical properties of stainless steels for building structures

With the year 2000 revision to the Building Standards Act, stainless steel became usable as a construction material alongside general rolled steel for building construction (SN steel). The chemical composition is the same as JIS standards for round bars, thick plates, thin plates and form steel, but the mechanical properties differ as given in the table below. With the same standard strength as SN400 and SN490, architectural design is simple.
